2. Sobers (the Bowler)
3. Sobers (the Fielder)

Does anyone actually know anything about what Cricket is about? How can you be a number 1 Cricketer if you can't bowl or field. There's only one Garry Sobers folks, the rest of you should be arguing over who's the best Batsman or Bowler, stop using the reference to "Cricketer" a Cricketer would be Garry Sobers. End of story.
I am the great fan of Sachin. The legend and The God of Cricket.
wasim akram is the best batsman ever in the history and sachin tendulkar is very bad crickter and he did not know cricket
yup sachin is in 2nd spot.
wasim akram was great player as a bowler not as a batsmen.I am human first than indian and you shall also do so ali saeed.I recomend to be friends because we as humanity don't like discrimination. All humans are equal.
wasim akram was great player as a bowler not as a batsmen.I am human first than indian and you shall also do so ali saeed.I recomend to be friends because we as humanity don't like discrimination. All humans are equal.

10...RICHARD HADLEE
11...GLENN McGARTH
12...KAPIL DEV
THATS IT, I COULD REWRITE THIS LIST ALL DAY LONG AND YOU WOULD STILL MISS PEOPLE OUT, DAMN SHAME YOU CAN'T PLAY 25PER SIDE
Its not easy task to choose the best players but still to make a team we need batsmen ,bowlers ,allrounder n wicketkeeper.
For test cricket :
best batsmen in world r 1)Don Bradman 2)Brain lara
3)Sachin Tendulkar 4)Viv Richards I think these 4 r the best but still ricky ponting ,allan border n Sunil gavaksar r also here but they can't beat top 4 in the list so they dont in my list.
wicket keeper 1)Andy flower(best test batsman for zimbawe)2)Adam Gilchrist
Bowlers
1)Murlidharan 2)Shane warne 3)Wasim Akram 4) Richard hadly 5)Malcom marshall
captain No doubt Sir Garry sobers
oh what abt Imran Khan, kail dev n ian botham they all legend i pick imran out of these.
ok so my team is now
1)Don bradman(Batsman)
2)Andy flower/Adam gilchrist(wicket keeper, batsman)
3)Brain Lara(Batsman)
4)Sachin Tendulkar(batsman,spin bowler)
5)Viv Richards(Batsman,spin bowler)
6)Gary sobers(captain,allrounder)
7)Imran khan(Bowler /batsman)
8)Wasim akram(Bowler/batsman)
9)Shane warne(spin bowler)
10)Murlidharan(spin bowler)
11)Malcom Marshall,Richard Headly,courtney walsh(fast bowler)
so this team got best 7 batsmen, got three fast bowlers, got i midum fast bowler n two best spinners.
Wasim Akram certainly needs a mention as does Glen McGrath IMO, both absolute legends especially in the bowling arena.
Zaheer
What about Waqar Younis,Kapil Dev.. Best bowlers of all time..
Watch for banana cuts of waqar younis .. then his importance in list will be realised
I think if you say a cricketer is great because his statistical data is very strong or you like him very much,,, this is not good a great cricketer means a complete player....... Sir Garry Sobers, Jaques Kallis, Kapil Dev and Ricky Ponting is ahead from others Sir Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar Brian Lara are only great batsman but SOBERS, KALLIS, KAPIL are great all rounders and PONTING is a great captain by winning two world cup under his captaincy without losing any match and a lot of other matches
howcome your list doesn't include 3 countries, who are sanctioned to play test cricket. are you a cricket fan at all? or just a retard?
Amazing that the person who is called the Bible of the Cricket is not in the list, IMRAN KHAN.
And I think the best batsman to me in the past decade up til now is RICKY PONTING.
And the best bowler of the last 2 decades was GLENN MECGRATH.
Well I think Wasim Akram, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Inzamamul Haq and Abdul Qadir, they all deserve to be in this list.
I don't know why there is a discrimination going on in sports!
Adn the silliest example of this discrimination is the following Poll, about the STRONGEST CRICKETING TEAM. In which, you have teams like Canada, Netherlands, but no Pakistan team. This is totally rubbish. You should be ashamed of yourselves. How can you justify this. Cricket without Pakistan is not complete. You retards!
My List is
1. Don Bradman
2. Garfield Sobber
3. Sachin Tendulkar
4. Sache warne
5. Sir Richard Hedlly
6. Wasim Akram
7. Steve Wagh
8. MurliDharan
9. Jaysoriya
10. Deen Jones
Hi guyz.............
I just wanted to say that all of you are cricket lovers and follow the game like me. But I dont agree with you all. To me in my 15 years of life and 10 years of cricket life Sachin Tendulkar has been the greatest batsman and a good cricketer for the spiritof playing for more than 20 years. If you say that Sachin was only a batsman and not a all round cricketer then what about Bradman after all he was only a good batsman of that time and whom none of us hav senn playing live!!!!!
So, my top 10 cricketrs will be:-
1. Sachin Tendulkar
2. Ricky Ponting
3. Brian Lara
4. Muthia Muraidharan
4. Don Bradman
5. Sunil Gavaskar
6. Allan Border
7. Shane Warne
8. Imran Khan
9. Jack Kallis
10. Viv Richards
I know most of yuo wont agree with this but think it over about Bradman and the God of Cricket !!!!!!!!!
i am very surprise to see all comment but there is no siddharth kaushik
sachin is the god for indians
best of luck for world cup
HOW CAN CAN IGNORE MUTHAIA MURLIDHARAN? ANY BEST CRICKET TEAM OF ANY TIME IS INCOMPLETE WITOUT MURLIDHARAN. NPT INCLUDING HIM IN BEST CRICKET TEAM OF ALL TIME WOULD BE A RACIAL APPROACH.
Conratulations to Murlidharan for completing a well deserving mile stone of 800 wickets in his last test match. Ohhh! what a great achievement for any player. How cleanly he achieved this mile stone by getting out Pragyan Ojha of India in his last inning, MEMMORABLE!
Undoubtfully, One can say, legendary leg spinner Shane Warne is the greatest spinner of all time, but statics speak something else, looks both Murli and Warne are the greatest spinner of all times. Both are the best, hard to give edge to one. If we go statically Murli is far ahead than Shane Warne, but I equally respect these two spinners Murli & Shane Warne and consider both the BEST of all time. It would be hard to see a spinner like these two in near instant future. They had such ability of turning the bowl that if Shane Warne could turn the ball on a marble stone pitch, Murli could turn the ball on a granite marble or even on a sand pitch in a desert. It always had been a great pleasure to watch these two spinners Shane Warne & Murli spinning the ball on all kind of pitches, infact pitches never mattered them. They both are the Magician of spin bowling. Long live these two spinners.
Dr. Anil Khari, M.D.

We fans like to see Sachin Tendulker at the top of list. Sir Sachin Tendulker is not comparable. Don Bradman was the great ..no doubt. But we have no doubt that Sir Sachin Tendulker is the greatest and best player for all time. Sachin: A name of spirit, Sachin: is made only for cricket. Sachin: A player of different planet. Why do we compare him to Bradman or Ponting? Sachin is Sachin.
My list of best cricketers ..openers -bradman and jack hobbs , no 3 batsmen vvn richards ,no 4 sachin ,at no 5 gary sobers , no 6 kapil dev, no 7 adam gilchrist ( wicket keeper /batsmen, no 8 wasim akram , no 9 dennis lillee ,no 10 glen mc grath , no 11 muralidharan..it contains one genuine spinner ,2 great fast bowlers of all time ,3 great alrounders,4 specialist batsmen and no one can replace adam gilchrist for wicket keeper / batsmen..great cricketers means they should be alround in wat they do so it contains 3 alrounders and the batsmen and bowlers are too good to miss
My greatest XI

You have to take into account averages, strike rate economy, ability to win games and playing within the laws of the game etc (not just averages by themselves).

#2 Sobers
#3 Viv, WG, Lara,
#6 Mcgrath, Lillee, Curtly Ambrose,

Its absolutely ridiculous that players like Gavaskar, Steve Waugh are in that list of top 10 greatest cricketers who are not that well in ODIs. Gavaskar was a useless ODI player. Noone can forget his knock of 36 where he stayed on the pitch for 60 overs. For top 10 Batsmen my pick will be

3. Vivian Richards
4. Barry Richards
5. Graeme Pollock

Good to see the all Greatest. But seems descrimination in finalzing the ever greatest players of Cricket History. There must be PAKISTANI cricketers, like Wasim Akram/Imran Khan/Javed Miandad etc.
Dear all Frnd
actually we can not made a comments on who is best & who's not.Cricket has change with time except the battle between bat & ball.
start from cricketing rule, umparing system, crowd expectation , style of cricket (Even 5 days cricket),reqrmnt of players physical & mental condition to play cricket, pitch condition, equipment, every thing.
If we consider.
another thing when ever we are going for comaprisn. We always going for records. To some extend (may be 80%) it is right but not always a player can be judged by their records.
even with same era we can not comapare simply by their records for example on avg a test player played 50% match in his home ground & 50% at away. then Murli has played 50% of his test in a pitch where its fabour spin but warne has played most of his home mathch in fast bowling pitch & similer case of kapil & botham or imran.similerly can richards palyed as aggresivly & succesfully against westindies as he was.
How many of us has watch don bradman or jack Hobs to play cricket.
in short it is almost impossible to chose who is better than other, & best 10 is actullay beyond our imagination,
Who is the the best? Who is the only cricketer that have: 11000+ test and odi runs and 250 test and odi wickets??? Only one... Mr. Jaques Kallis... Call it CASE CLOSED!!! (no one else come close)
tendulkar

India is a loser outside india. Tendulkar is player against bangladesh.
If he is a batsman what he did in Australia, UK,etc
Teduklar is not a match winner.
Truth is truth. And you had to accept it. Abdul Razzaq is a match winner and his winning percentage is far better than teduklar.

yes indian cricket no team in world
You lot a re all emotional and wrong.
Batsmen
1. Bradman. Ave. 99.94 on uncovered wickets and no helmets!!!
2. pollock. Ave. 60.93 2nd of all time, way behind the don
3. Headley Ave. 60.83 on uncovered wickets and no helmets
4. Sutcliffe Ave.60.73 on uncovered wickets and no helmets
5. Barrington Ave.60.67 on uncovered.....
6. Weekes Ave 58.61 on uncovered....
7. Hammond Ave 58.45 on uncovered...
8. Sobers Ave 57.78 on uncovered... and his bowling!!!
9. Kallis Ave 57.02 and his bowling!!!!
Ok, now bowlers:
1. Tyson Ave 18.56
2.Davidson Ave 20.53 on uncoverd..
3 Marshall Ave 20.94
4. Garner Ave 20.97
5 Ambrose Ave 20.99
6.Mcgrath Ave 21.64.
wicket keepers
1. Gilchrist Ave 47.89 No brainer
the team:
1. Bradman
2. Gilchrist
3. Sobers as he bowled slow medium and fast
4. any 4 of the batsmen
5. any 4 of the bowlers.
nb boycott says Tyson was the fastest bowler he ever faced, so I'd pick him just to see him bowl.
Ambrose Marshall and Garner as the other 3 would be unplayable with tyson and Sobers. If you had Kallis in the batting then it becomes overwhelming to the opposition from a batting point of view, as they dont have Bradman,
NB when the w indies were at their pomp, Richards and all the other batsmen of their generation couldnt play them, so noone now could either. Add Tyson to those 3, oh my god...
Just to make it more interesting, lets have no helmets, and lets sometimes uncover the pitches hee.
No sissy modern batsmen would last would they. Kallis is the best of the moderns with by far the highest average, way above the relatively poor tendulkar and lara. Interesting isnt it....
as for spinners, Murili is my pick at ave 22.72! The "great" Warne could only muster ave 25.41, very mediocre, especially as Murili was not aided by his team as Warne was. no - brainer. Murili is the most under-rated bowler i think, and i wonder at the racism of the press in this regard with all the hoo-ha about Warne. id
'd add Murili to my team as wickets demanded it, on the subcontinent mostly.
Just realised andy flower ave 51.54 may be in as wicket keeper above gilchrist. Great, more countries involved, and boy does that strengthen the batting. Also, nice to see another Aussie out of the team! Hee
my top ten batsman
1:gilchrist
2:don bradman
3:brian lara
4:imran khan
5:waseem akram
6:viv richardson
7:shahid afridi
8:sangakara
9:younis khan
10:muralidaran
guys, the problem with us is that we take too much appreciation from stats thats why all of us has included guys with best average, highest scorer, highest wicket taker, highest average etc ets. but no one is going for the proper crickter a match winner.once u describe the top ten best crickters then u should not feel shy of taking ten cicketers fom a single country if they really are the best.rather than that we just pick the best coz we want to give every country a nomination.well as for my knowledge if u want top ten crickters of all times they are:
1-Gary sobers
2-shnae warne
3-don bradman
4-imran khan
5-muttaih murlitharen
6-viv richards
7-brian lara
8-wasim akram
9-sachin tendulkar
10-jacquas kallis
but if u want to build a team then i could say just go for modren cricket whom u have seen.so my team is
1-justin langer
2-gary kirsten
3-ricky ponting
4-rahul dravid
5jacquas kallis
6-andy flower
7-imran khan
8-shane warne
9-wasim akram
9-muttaih murlitharen
10-glenn mc grath

This was made long before.
Sachin is still playing...and he s still in his best..!!
a man to be bat consistently for more than 22 years....is just like HUMANLY IMPOSSIBLE..!! Sachin is still discovering new records not chasing..!! he do create records and histories..!! the only batsmen to score 100centuries in INternational Cricket..!! A good batting average alone cant say bradman as the worlds best..!! Its simply the Aussies cudnt accept the fact that their DON has been surpassd by our GOD...!!
If kohli go to stop his cricket right now he will be also havng a good average..!! that doesnt mean that he is the best..!! its the temperament to score more and more runs fr past 22years and winning many many matches fr the country...!! and Being the Super Hero for 2genaration of all childrns around the world..!! The reason why they start to play cricket...!! the reason why they becme a right handed batsmen...!!its all becoz of SACHIN TENDULKAR the GOD of CRICKET
i think Greg Matthews from Australia, he bowled with a hat on, and it being a baggy green im sure it would have been difficult to see in his delivery stride hence the best cricketer ever..
i agree with Sinbad but i argued with him for ages that Peter " Who" was better.
sachin tendulkar is itself the story of cricket this is why he is known as the god of cricket. thanx sachin for ur unbelievable contribution for world of crickek. congrates u'll be best and great forever.
i agree with nyt Sachin has been good for cricket a great story but im a realist Sachin should retire becuase he has lost his edge. his latest tour of australia was bordering on embarrassing along with the other experienced players within the team. even he couldn't score in the odi.s its a real worry. do u agree??
Pity so many respondents concentrated so much on batsmen. Warne and Lillee are musts, but then the choice becomes very hard. If Tyson was nicknamed Typhoon, what's that make Harold Larwood---Lightspeed?
in my opinion, the greatest cricket team ever time in Test Cricket
1. Don Bradman
2. Sachin Tendulkar
3. Sunil Gavaskar
4. Sir V I Richards
5. Sir G Sovers
6. A Gilchrist
7. W Akram
8. G Mcgrath
9. C Walsh
10. R Hadley
11. S Warne

My best all time XI are as follows:
1) Brian Lara(he opened in ODIS so has some experience and highest test and first class score)
2) Adam Gilchrist (Best wicketkeeper batsman of all time with most centuries in tests and experience as opener in ODIs)
3)Don Bradman (Best batsman of all time)
4)Sachin Tendulkar (Most durable international batsman and most international centuries)
5)Viv Richards (Best batsman against fast bowling, fastest test match hundred, previous holder of highest ODI score and most international runs in calendar year)
6) Gary Sobers (57 plus test match batting average, also versatile bowler, ie, left arm chinaman, left arm fast-medium etc, one of the highest test scores, best all rounder of all time)
7) Imran Khan (Second best all rounder of all time, 50 batting average as captain and world cup winning captain, and very good pace swing bowler)
8) Wasim Akram (Best left arm quickie of all time and highest test score of 257 batting number 8, a good allrounder at number 8)
9) Malcolm Marshall (Best pace bowler of all time as mentioned by Wasim Akram, Geoffrey Boycott and others,he took wickets in all countries he played in)
10) Shane Warne (Best legspinner of all time - quality wicket taker)
11) Dennis Lillee (Extemely quick in 1971 against World Xl but slowed down due to injury, later). However, a clever pace swing bowler and had duels against Viv Richards
12) Murali Muralitharan (Best off spinner of all time with most international wickets)
*If the wicket is conducive to spin then I would play Murali and leave out Dennis Lillee
sorry muttiah muralitharan not murali muralitharan

NO PLAYERS CAN MATCH WITH RAHUL DRAVID, A GREAT PLAYER WITH A GREAT PERSONALITY EVER IN THE WORLD
GREATEST CRICKETERS not in terms of batting, bowling, fielding or wicketkeeping, BUT ALL ROUND PERFORMANCE.
GARRY SOBERS and JACQOUES KALLIS are on top of the list.

johny(cool)hagzselson 2 years ago
why no murali/wasim/imran khan on that list thyey were all sensational. Sachin is so overated ponting, kallis and lara are just as great, or even better. And gavaskar is so boring to watch u should replace him with the likes of jack hobbs or N. Kapil Dev the greatest all-rounder perhaps off all time.
Kapil Dev was better than Sachin and Sunny because he won india the world cup almost single handedly. And he was a great captain. every one else is ok on that list.
here is my list:
1.Bradman 8.Warne
9.sachin 10. Jaques Kallis/Chris Cairns/Malcolm marshal
2.Sobers
3.Barry Richards
4.Viv Richars
5.Imran Khan
6.N.kapil Dev
7.Murali
